Firestone

Yesterday during the Hawks game I enjoyed a Lawnmower Lager by Caldera down in Ashland Oregon. It us light and refreshing and a unique lager. After the game I celebrated with having a Firestone Walker Union Jack IPA. It was a good one but what do you expect from a Mid-size Brewery Champion that has won it three times .

Aging Beers

For Christmas I got the Fremont Bourbon Barreled Abominable Ale, MOA Imperial Stout Aged in Pinot Noir Barrels and Sound Brewing's Ursus Speleus Belgian Style Imperial Stout. I am going to keep these in a cool dark place for a year and have them next Christmas!

21st Amendment

Last night during the game I enjoyed these two beer while the Hawks beat the Niners. There was the Marooned on an Island Stout made with oyster shells and the Hop Crisis Imperial IPA aged with Oak Chips. Both were great, there hasn't been a beer I disliked by them!

Recommendations

Happy Thanksgivings! For this holiday I am recommending these delicious treats

3. Hopworks HUB Lager-Light ale slightly hopped very refreshing. More for summer but does not take space away from the turkey.

2. Sweet Heat from Burnside Brewing- apricot scotch bonnet pepper ale. It starts off sweet on the pallet then the heat creeps up on you. It won a Gold Medal at GABF.

1. Hopdevil IPA from Victory Brewing- probably my favorite IPA. Balanced, nicely hopped and more malty than normal IPA.

Portland

Had a great time in Portland! We ate at Hopworks Brewery. Next day we went to Burnside Brewing were I had the gold medal winning Sweet Heat. It is an apricot and scotch bonnet ale. My awesome wife had the Almond Joy Porter. We also met with my brother and his gf. We then went to Rogue where we tried the 19 original colonies mead, the mogul madness and the hazalnut brown ale. We also stopped at Cascade Brewing. Tasting the elderberry sour, the grew monk, black cap raspberry, & the honey ginger lime. We finished at the Green Dragon whee my brother and I split the new Rogue Voodoo banana peanut butter chocolate ale. Smell sweet and it is smooth but fills you up quickly. Then I tried the Wasatch Pumpkin Ale and My brother had the secret tap which was an italian blueberry stout. All in all we experienced good beer and good company in this rainy pacific northwest weather! Not a bad weekend!

Beer and Intelligence

According to two studies one in the U.S. and the other in the U.K. The study states that smarter people tend to "drink more and more frequently" then there duller drier counterparts. Yay science!

UINTA Oak JACKED Imperial Pumpkin Ale

Tried Uinta's Imperial Pumpkin Ale tonight and it is safe to say I like it better than Elysian Great Pumpkin. Elysian better watch out, they may have made pumpkin beers a thing but other breweries are gunning for them!

Elysian Great Pumpkin

Enjoying my first Great pumpkin. Does not disappoint.

Horror Movies and Beer

Being an avid Horror Movie fan and Beer lover. I thought I would take it upon myself to pair beer with Horror movies. So, for my first pairing I thought I would do Dracula with Hopworks Urban Brewery's Rise up Red Ale.  I like to think that after a night of seducing women and biting necks that Dracula lays back in his coffin and enjoys a nice pint of red ale to relax before descending in
into slumber and then rising up to do it all over again.
